Community Solutions cut the ribbon on the Acorn pub after £400k refurbishment

08th November 2022

The Acorn in Accrington, formerly known as The Brickworks, welcomed customers back on Monday (October 24) after a massive £400,000 update.

The Hyndburn Road pub has a new name and aesthetic and aims to bring a modern take on the traditional community pub.

Community Solutions, who’s aim is to combat social isolation will be working with the pub on activities throughout the year and attended the pub to celebrate the opening.

Rachel Bury, a long serving volunteer of the charity, made an appearance as a VIP alongside some of the charity’s staff to cut the ribbon at the opening.

Hannah Collins, General Manager, at the Acorn said: “This is such an exciting moment for us. We’ve got a new look, a new name, and great new facilities for the community. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in to see the transformation we’ve undergone.

Chris Emmerson, Enterprise Development Manager, at Community Solutions said: partnerships like the one with the Acorn pub help support some of the most vulnerable and isolated people on our area, not only will the funds raised by the Acorn support our work, but we will also be looking at using the pub for our social groups and activities. We look forward to developing the relationship with Hannah and the team at the Acorn.
