Coronavirus Guidance for Community Solutions Staff, Volunteers and Participants

Community Solutions intend to take a Responsible and Measured approach in response to coronavirus and continue to be guided by the Government and Chief Medical Officers National guidance.

An increasing number of people in England have tested positive for coronavirus. The UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the public from low to moderate to allow the government to plan for all eventualities. The risk to individuals in the UK has not changed and advice remains the same as previously.

To prevent the transfer of germs, staff, volunteers and participants are reminded to wash their hands regularly and use hand sanitiser when possible. The following precautions should also be taken to reduce the spread of germs:

  • Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough
  • Regularly clean surfaces
  • Avoid sharing food, drink and utensils

Symptoms of Coronavirus:

?             a persistent continuous cough

?             a high temperature

?             shortness of breath

But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness. The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu

Staff, Volunteers and Participants are also asked to follow the guidance below in relation to return from travel.

Participants

If you feel unwell for any reason, please take steps to look after yourself as you ordinarily would. If you think you might have coronavirus please follow guidance from the NHS (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/).

Should you have had contact with anyone suspected to have coronavirus it is required that you follow Government guidelines and self-isolate. It is requested that you contact your co-ordinator by phone to discuss any further measures needed regarding contacting others at Community Solutions that you have had contact with. It will be recommended that befriending home visits will be suspended until deemed appropriate to resume.

Volunteers

Concerning any doubts regarding your health it is advisable to refrain from visiting vulnerable adults or accessing community social settings and follow the above NHS advice.

Developing Situation

As the media have highlighted Coronavirus is a developing worldwide situation. It is advisable that all staff, volunteers and participants are responsible in their responses and actions. Community Solutions continue to monitor the situation and are guided by Government guidelines and the Chief Medical Officers recommendations.

Community Solutions are in the process of putting contingency plans in place should the Government advise that a national lockdown is required.
