Latest News

10th August 2020

We have a great edition for you, with some training starting next month (possibly online), the Eat Out To Help Out offers in our loved Tea Room, a new way to shop and, of course, David’s weekly jokes.

First of all, we would like to congratulate our patrons, NORI HR and Employment Law, who have been honoured with the Most Trusted for HR and Employment Law 2020 award for Lancashire by SME-News. It?s also the business 1st birthday, and what a way to celebrate! NORI have been a welcome addition to our board of Patrons, since joining us in February, helping us to raise awareness of our services and encouraging us to take part in the #155kmchallenge earlier this year to raise funds during lockdown.

We wish them every success in the years to come and look forward to working together more in future.

Be Covid-19 Smart

Announced on the 30th July by Health Secretary Matt Hancock, areas within East Lancashire and Greater Manchester, including Hyndburn, will be subject to stricter measures to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus in our communities.

Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:

?We understand the new rules in place will be disruptive for many people and we would like to reassure residents that Hyndburn Borough Council are working hard and in unity with many organisations to reduce the transmission of covid-19 within our community as quickly as possible.

?The new rules announced by Central Government are in place to keep people safe. The sooner we can reduce the number of coronavirus cases, the sooner restrictions will be eased. Please work with us, follow all measures in place and do the right thing. Thank you for the continued support and for making sacrifices to protect our vulnerable residents and NHS.?

Digital Befriending Volunteers Needed

We offer various forms of mentoring and befriending through home visits, telephone support and group activities. However, during lockdown we had to practice more digitalisation, including video call befriending to keep delivering our services to an increasing number of people.
