I?m Natasha and I am a social work student on placement with Community Solutions. Over the past three months I have taken part in the group activities held here at Elmfield Hall and have realised there is something for everyone to enjoy. From knitting, horticulture and cooking, crafting, learning to play guitar and social groups the weeks really can fly by. There is a positive and welcoming energy as soon as you step through the door at Elmfield Hall and everyone I have met describes it as a friendly place to be.
Whilst on placement I have attended training courses to improve my personal development. The Building Relationships and Facilitating Change course helped me to further develop my communication and motivational interviewing techniques. I also took part in Modern Day Slavery and Mental Health training which educated me on current issues and how to identify and recognise the signs of modern slavery and mental health issues.
Completing my placement at Community Solutions has enabled me to meet new people and hear so many amazing life stories. It has been a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful team who are making such a difference for local people. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in Community Solutions for making me feel so welcome, especially to the volunteers and participants who fill Elmfield Hall with kindness and laughter.
