Support Now project enhances local residents’ lives with new services

Community Solutions North West introduces 'Support Now', a new initiative designed to assist residents facing illness or ongoing health needs, offering holistic support through partnerships with local services.

Community Solutions North West, a local charity known for its impactful community work, has launched a new support project called 'Support Now'. This initiative is inspired by the dedication of the charity’s volunteers, who were recently honored with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. 'Support Now' is designed to aid local residents dealing with illness or ongoing health challenges. The project aims to provide a holistic approach to care, ensuring that individuals can access the necessary services and support to enhance their quality of life. By facilitating liaison between various services such as the NHS, GPs, care agencies, and support organizations like Homewise, 'Support Now' helps residents receive tailored assistance suited to their specific needs. In addition to these services, 'Support Now' offers practical support, including a home from hospital food parcel program, to ease the transition for those returning home after hospital stays. This aspect of the initiative is supported by funding from the Rank Foundation and donations from the Cardboard Box Company and Asda Accrington. “Our 'Support Now' service provides a range of support, from advocacy and practical help like home adaptations to arranging home visits. We aim to empower individuals to manage their health conditions and live more comfortably,” said Katrina Leigh, Social Care Manager at Community Solutions. “The positive impact on those we have already assisted is profound, and we are confident that this project will continue to benefit many more people in the future.” This new initiative builds on the success of the 'Visit Me' campaign launched in 2019. 'Visit Me' offers support to individuals in hospitals, care homes, or those recently bereaved, providing bedside or home visits along with essentials packs containing welfare items and small treats.
