The Acorn, a well-loved pub in Accrington, has reopened its doors after a significant £400,000 refurbishment, bringing a fresh, modern vibe to the traditional community hub. Formerly known as The Brickworks, The Acorn unveiled its new look and name on October 24, with an enthusiastic reception from local patrons. In a collaborative effort to enhance community engagement, Community Solutions will be partnering with The Acorn to host various activities throughout the year. The charity, which focuses on combating social isolation, was present at the opening ceremony. Rachel Bury, a dedicated volunteer, along with other staff members, had the honor of cutting the ribbon as VIP guests. Hannah Collins, General Manager of The Acorn, expressed her excitement: “This is such an exciting moment for us. We’ve got a new look, a new name, and great new facilities for the community. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in to see the transformation we’ve undergone.” Chris Emmerson, Enterprise Development Manager at Community Solutions, highlighted the importance of such partnerships: "Collaborations like ours with The Acorn Pub are crucial in supporting some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in our area. Not only will the funds raised by The Acorn support our work, but we are also planning to use the pub as a venue for our social groups and activities. We look forward to developing this relationship with Hannah and her team." This partnership symbolizes a commitment to creating inclusive community spaces that provide not only social interaction but also crucial support for those in need.
